Are We Clinging for Straws?

I think in general, I like usually when you say people are grasping for straws, it's usually a very negative image. In a way, however, I do find the image quite beautiful, you know, the human being sort of grasping for clinging to some kind of connection with the earth, with nature. So we're all, I think, clinging for straws... maybe we should probably cling for trees or something instead.
