Cassie's Fake Self
Cassie repeatedly throughout the novel refers to her fake self. And I think, you know, like you say, maybe Cassie's not as complicit, maybe she just knows how to operate, just is what it is. But isn't that how we end up everywhere? Isn’t that how we ended up with Nazis? Like people falling into line for self-preservation. Even outside of work, it's what we do. Does anybody not do it? That's what I mean, that's what I'm wondering.
