In British culture, we have this kind of sense of asking more indirectly because maybe there's a small chance it might not be okay. So rather than saying, I'm going to use the bathroom, in the UK we might just say, would it be okay if I used your bathroom? Would it be okayIf I popped to the toilet? We're asking as a question. And again, I don't think it's something that you learners have to worry about. Whatever you say, it's going to be fine. You're not going to offend anyone.
