Is It an Effective Altruist Idea?

The winter solstice is this evening at around 9.47 or 48 in the UK, well in the northern hemisphere, but UK time. I chose severance off the back of a tweet that I'd written about Sam Bankman Freed and effective altruism. It's very obvious that sometimes forms of trauma are very difficult for us to deal with - we might run away from them like the main character in Parks and Recs. We know as are unknown to ourselves, as Nietzsche famously says in his critique of the fantasy of a transparent epistemology.
