Russia has much smaller contracts with china and wants to sign more. Europe imports about 180 billion kubic metres gas from russia, mostly pipe and gas. China is 35 so that means one sixth of this gas, but europe. Russia gets somewhere between aig hundred million and one billion dollars per day in revenues from its exports of energy to europe. That created an understandable discomfort because it made it all too easy to understand that revenues from europe are paying for mister pucin's war.
