Introduction
In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina came roaring into New Orleans. It's still one of the deadliest hurricanes to ever strike the U.S., killing nearly 2,000 people. The hurricane has done the most financial damage in the US, almost $200 billion worth. People who are poor and in marginalized communities are disproportionately affected by these disasters.
