The Importance of Tradition in Historical Materialism

historical materialists can draw upon tradition to identify the roots of this conformism, how it isn't just a natural way to exist in the world. They're only interested in a past that won't actually affect the present day, they just do it as something that they want to explore and investigate for their own fascination. So in this moment tradition is like the redeemer, almost like a messianic messiah type character, against the antichrist of conformism or of bourgeois values here.
