What's Happened to the UK Government?
MMT proponents say understanding the money system is vital to putting together functional fiscal policy. The UK government has 'seeded control' of bond and forex markets, says John Defterios. No government can control markets without adding brackets because we don't want the control was the answer, he adds. But having got into control as a market appeaser, he now has to do what he thinks the markets will like - which would be austerity.
Christian talks to economist and author Dr Phil Armstrong about what’s likely to be missing from coverage of the UK budget this week and what functional fiscal policy might look like.
