What Is the Cookie?

In 1994, the internet cookie goes out into the world with the launch of the Netscape browser. It let you sign into websites and it solved the shopping cart problem. Within a few months, Microsoft decides to include cookies in their browser too. So basically overnight, cookies have gone from barely a twinkle in lose eye to this fundamental part of how the internet works.
