The idea that you can just opt out of it because you're informed is really hard. I think corporations are still very much, because it used to be like you want to create Mimesis Desire. But now things are so kind of hyper-specialized that those kinds of strategies don't really work. We don't really have anything like a shared national culture anymore. How do you build a mass market brand without a mass market? That would be an interesting field of study.
