Crows' brains light up when they see another dead crow, or a mummified human being. The amigdola is an area associated with fear acquisition and higher cognitive tasks. It might also be the hippocampus, which is the little brain nugget responsible for learning and memory. A small portion of crows will even attempt copulation with their dead counterparts.
