The Difference Between Anger and Punishment
I think in realistic cases and in cases that people argue about, it is fairly obvious. We know perfectly well that spanking and falling off of playground equipment are completely different situations. And we know that as soon as you take this to somebody's wife or somebody's employee, the logic breaks down. It's not logic. It's sophistry. It's obfuscation. I can't even reliably tell in every case, even if I knew all the facts. So in summary, we don't know exactly which features of a situation cause suffering and which cause fun. Or which are suffering and which are fun.
