Char arles ray hacha was convicted of raping and murdering a five-year-old boy. He pretended he was insane to avoid going to prison for his crimes. Over the next three years, he was sent for psychiatric assessment five separate times. On each occasion, he was found competent to stand trial and sent back to prison where court appointed psychiatrists declared him unfit again. But t his true identity was uncovered, and he was sent back to jail. Ted hatcher managed to escape one hospital only to be caught again a week later under the alias richard grady. After serving four years out of his five year sentence, Hatcher returned to prison another four times to serve short stints
