Janelle: I feel like the patron is what many of us like dream of. And you're like, oh, only I just had a rich zaddy who would give me money and just let me exist. It used to be so common that artists, like sponsors or like people come like benefit and would just like afford them a whole career. But this archetype often is an evolution of the stoic or the transponding evolutionary. Like it's not it's often like the final form of someone.

Why does “selling” sometimes give us such the ick?

If you think about it another way, we’re kind of always pitching something.

Whether it’s spell-casting as we write copy, rattling off our take on the latest trend grinding our gears, or sharing our origin story, we might as well communicate it in our own unique style.
