How to Reverse Engineer Attention in the News Media
The news media is just kind of the most obvious example of this, but this happens everywhere. Basically if we can distract people's attention from a topic or if people otherwise fail to direct their attention to a topic, we then backwards rationalize. And again, this is happening subconsciously that the thing that we're no longer focusing on is less important. So we can actually force people to focus on certain things with product placement or by creating a false sense of importance.
