China's Water Scarcity Is Getting Worse

resource scarcity drives up the price of raw materials and so each unit of GDP growth is now three times more expensive for China to produce than it was even just in the 2000s. Beijing has about as much water per capita as Saudi Arabia does, which gives adversaries a sort of pulse point they could potentially squeeze in a conflict. The baby boom generation in China is now retiring and it's up to a tiny one child generation to basically pick up the slack. We highlight that China's going to lose roughly 70 million working age adults and gain 130 million senior citizens over next 10 to 15 years.
