The Importance of Output
Aristotle would tell us that we are what we repeatedly do. There's a lot to be said for getting into the groove and consistently demanding a certain amount of output regardless of quality. Hemingway is part of his creativity, part of his imagination was involved in his public persona. So he creates a bit of a character. The writer becomes a myth. But if you look to Hemingway, what did he do? Every day, come rain or shine. Didn't matter how much he was drinking the night before. He got up and he focused on output. Henry James would do a very similar thing. This is creative output, yes, but this is also factory work.
