A slower rate of eating can influence our memory related to food ingestion. We are kind of mentally coding that as a greater sense of satisfaction and a more prolonged experience in which we are quite satisfied from a sensory perspective. And it also seems that there is a persistent effect of that that seems to drag on throughout the day where if we have this slower eating experience that leads to greater sensory satisfaction per unit calorie, we kind of code that as a deeper memory at 3 p.m.
