Is the Decimal System Really Better?
There were competitions between people who used an abacus and the people who used symbols on paper see who could get the answer fastest. The ancient greeks pioneered the study of mathematics, taking ideas from both the babylonians and egyptians before them. There is some debate amongst cognitive scientists whether or not the decimal system in terms of the written numeral system is really advantageous.
