A Child's Addiction

Tania has spent years in therapy because of her instinct to shut down intimacy and gentle contact. Her dad would call her stupid and amess up, and often threatened to leave the family. She'd go days without sleeping or eating, get drunk, go home with strangers until she felt like she was all filled up with darkness. Tana's mam and brother shared their memories of these times, but tania's dad never responded to our calls when he was younger. All this made her feel unsafe at home. So the day she turned 16, she ran away, attempting to escape. But for years, her childhood haunted her. She did not recognize it as her own.
