There's a whole sequence at the beginning where Aziraphil and Crowley are talking to each other. They're sort of subtly second guessing the orders that they're getting from the people who are giving them orders. The baby the baby switch did not go off without a hitch. And babies who didn't who weren't supposed to get switched actually got switched. So this kid Adam who's actually the Antichrist ends up growing up without any satanic or heavenly influence at all. He just ends upgrowing up as a normal kid.
Good Omens was written by a sort of science fiction supergroup, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It's one of those books where it's as fun to chew on the turns of phrase as it is to find out what happens, which is pretty amazing since it's literally about the end of the world.
