The Importance of a Diplomatic Solution

The Minsk accords were the agreement between Ukraine, Russia, Germany, France and some of the other major players here after the 2014 revolution that established a negotiating framework. The problem with a diplomatic solution here is I don't see how that happens anymore. In Putin's speech last night he said yes we're protecting Donbas but we don't want to occupy the country. It's very clear that what Russia wants to do is extend its political influence through the Carpathian Mountains at gunpoint not at the negotiating tape.
