Hopper is known for discounting hotel prices and it needs to do that in order to stay price competitive, especially since its consumer base is younger people looking for cheap deals. Expedia pulled out of its partnership with Hopper because they found value in the company's fintech products. So where is Hopper going to get that hotel inventory that Expedia took away? One possible avenue is booking.com. But when you put in the competitive factor, would booking.com really want to fuel the rise of Hopper like Expedia did? Probably not.
