The Importance of Knowing Where to Focus Your Satellites
Nathaniel and his team had been watching tensions in southern Sudan. They used anthropological texts from the 1930s and the 1950s, cross-referencing historical patterns with present-day events. Then they added to Dash of On the Ground reporting, some social mediaData helped them decide where to focus their satellites. But sometimes knowing where to point your satellite isn't enough because it turns out sophisticated technologies buzzing around in space fall prey to something we're also at the mercy of here on Earth.
