The idea is that these are safe to use on running processes because we don't touch the memory at all, we just read it. I will say, you say that stopping a process is always safe. That's not necessarily true. It does change the behavior of CIS calls that are in the middle of happening. They'll get an E-enter. But this can happen also you send signals to your process. So for instance, you have any process and then it just happens to send a signal or someone interrupts the process. Now you are like, who knows what happened? You are just calling, you need the gill for instance to do that. Technically, a touching GDB
