The Long Parliament
The so-called long parliament ran from 1640 to 1660. It started with when Charles I was Phil the King. The Westminster Assembly was called by the Parliament, not by the King. There were 120 ministers, mostly Puritan Reformed minded,. Some were more congregational but none were really for independency.
