Juggling Without a License

charles j colchester was arrested in august 18 65 for what may seem on the surface to be an odd charge. Jugglery, in this case does not mean literal juggling, but trickery or manipulation. So chester was taken in for tax evasion because he refused to register his profession as a juggler. Colchester's claim was mainly that he was closer to being a member of the clergy than a trickster. The trial really kind of turned the trial into an instance where spiritualism itself was being debated.
