The Unique Character of John the Baptist
John the Baptist's baptism as Elijah is a witness to this great messianic revelation. And what turns out to be a two stage coming of judgment and salvation. First one that terminates the theocratic relation and brings a fulfilling and surpassing of that relation to Jews and Gentiles in this age. Second one that comes at the end of the age when God clears the world threshing force separates the wheat from the chaff.
