The idea that your brain is removed and put somewhere but kept functioning has moved many people. But if you ask whether that's the animal going in that direction on the face of it doesn't seem to be the correct verdict, he says. And yet we have a strong inclination to count the person or the self as having gone with the brain. So that would be the prime example of what might be called a person without the animal type of case.
