The History of Coding in South Africa
In post-apartheid South Africa, there's still the looming history. Is there a sense amongst black folks getting involved in coding that it's a white job and that white folks have all the secrets? Did they have computers growing up and do they have like a 10-year head start or a many hundred-year head starts? And do you have to kind of break that down? Yes, absolutely. It's not just a white profession. It's a white man profession. So when you look at representation within Take It South Africa, it's predominantly white male. You'll find the same level of insecurity or structural barrier that exists for black folk. In many ways, it exists
