Sometimes the best thing you can do is say no to all the things that are competing for your attention and sit with your own thoughts. The first way is solo reflection, where, after reading something, you go through a process of posing questions to yourself or sharing your own thoughts on what you've just read. Another way to do reflection, if you don't want to do it by yourself, is pure reflection, where you end up having a conversation with anyone that's willing to listen. Sane parrish describes this concept of reflection in a really powerful way. He says reflecting is an example of an approach i call first order negative, second order positive.
