Triglycerides themselves are not independently causal because as we've stated, when you adjust for non-HDL cholesterol, that independent association falls away. It also typically results in the remodeling of LDL into smaller denser particles. And so with those biomarkers now explained, what allows us to proceed from looking at a biomarker and thinking that this is potentially causal to a verdict of causal risk factor or causal biomarker? Again, it comes down to strength of evidence.
