What Happened When the French Franc Was Devalued?
The French Franc was devalued several times over the decades to restore the economic competitiveness of France. Each time, the CFA Franc was devaluated to the same extent in order to maintain parity with the French Franc. The fall of the CFA exchange rates stimulated an increase of the prices of imported goods and food,. And as there are foreign debts, we are largely denominated in foreign currencies. But only agricultural countries such as Cote d'Ivoire and Cam Hoon recorded some positive effects.
