i don't think ther's a lot of textual evidence to support that. And i have no problem with nosut a violent reading of this. But the reason why i resisted is also, it seems to me that if we were to interpret the inner monologue of somebody like bartleby, it wouldn't be as an insurrectionary figure. That he's going to cancel the dialectic of existence by just negating even his own desires for existence and doing sot that's so contrary. Even if it hurts him, it's still a kind of free act.
