The Importance of Diversity in Leadership
I've a strong proponent of building a diverse team that brings all those different perspectives to four. When we had the discrimination issue that I talked about earlier at Airbnb, people in the company were shocked that hosts were actually discriminating on the website. If no one in the room had been discriminated against, then how would you expect to build a business that could proactively see it coming and do something about it? You need as a company to be able to tap into a diverse pool of talent if you're going to understand your customers.
