New machines and new methods were beginning to appear in workshops, farms and family businesses. The british financial system was beginning to resemble a modern one. Easy credit meant more investment, providing more fuel for the economy. Many within the british alite began to view business men and bankers as the class of people the government should be protecting rather than agricultural landowners. That's te world of the late nineteenth century.
