The Importance of Alumni Donations in Higher Education

Most elite universities are tuition funded. Many of them get some amount of money from the state, but that has been declining for years everywhere and now represents a pretty pitiful sum of money. The health of these institutions one year over another has just really depended upon these weird minor fluctuations where if they have 300 more students or 300 less, that actually has a really significant impact on their bottom line because they're tuition dependent.
