The Unification of the Habsburg Empire
The marriages were sealed in 1515. 11 years later Vladislaus's son now grown up was killed in battle without leaving a male heir and his Hungarian possessions fell to Ferdinand. The Habsburgs thus added a huge amount of territory to the realms, Austria-Bohimian Hungary were united staying together until World War I. Queen Victoria strategically married her children and grandchildren into royal houses all over Europe with the hope they would build political alliances between Great Britain and these countries that they would marry into. It kind of worked for a little bit but ultimately her plan her like European unification plan or whatever ultimately backfired at the onset of World War I when her grandchildren's countries went to war
