Most trade is still conducted in US dollars. When economies are slowing, there's often a flight to quality which tends to be to the US because of the reserve currency status. It'll be a while before the US dollar is not a reserve currency, but that doesn't mean the dollar can't weaken over time consistent with its long-term trend. That would be beneficial to non-dollar assets, including international stocks.
