Research shows that boys are unfairly graded by teachers. Teachers give boys opinions like a boy's just naturally misbehaved or boys don't like reading, girls struggle in lessons. And there are lots of things that teachers believe about boys that aren't inherently biologically true but become true through a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy underpinned by teachers' low expectations.
