The Divergence of the Academic and Cultural Definition of Wellness
There has been an industry around wellness over the last decade. Wellness can be a wonderful way to cope but it cannot prevent distress, he says. Distress is very much a part of life and distress and reaction to the pandemic was entirely appropriate. But there hasn't been as much of a clean line drawn between people who go on to develop significant mental health concerns or who had mental health concerns that were exacerbated by the pandemic. The more specific we can be in making those distinctions, the better able we will care for everybody involved.
