There was a bias against leg locks in the sport at that time. They were seen as kind of cheap, like it was like a cheap shot. Judas is a sport derived from judo and so I took a little bit of that bias into account. There's nothing about leg logs that makes them more dangerous than chemorah hooks or heel hooks. If you've just question whether they hold weight, most of the early criticisms didn't really hold true.
