The Antiquarian Use for History
The antiquarian view serves life by connecting the individual in the present to tradition, and thus giving him a solid and proven way of life that he can follow. Nica says that for the antiquarian person, the history of the city becomes for him a history of hisself. The critical use is where it imbues modest, coarse, even wretched conditions in which a man or people live with a simple, touching feeling of pleasure and contentment.
