The Cabbage Patch Kids' riots of 1983 really seem to have their roots in the Black Friday riots we are familiar with today. The thing is, this had never happened before and it would be decades until anything like this happened again. There's just something about this scarcity idea or this survival of the fittest that you have to go after. With the cabbage patch kids, it was just that toy and this hasn't happened again.
