Nishida on Nothingness

Nishida was the first Japanese philosopher who tried to melt Indigenous Japanese philosophy with philosophy for the best. He drew heavily on Zen, but he was also reading a lot of European philosophers like Hegel and Kant. Several people followed him in this tradition, Tanabe and Nishita, and so these philosophers and several others collectively became known as the Kyoto school. One thing that holds the school together is the use of this notion of absolute nothingness on Japanese Zetai-mu move.
