Anne Archer's Ending
There was this original final act where she kind of killed herself and he got arrested. The producers suddenly started to realise I think the audience want to see Anne Archer kill Glenn Close, right? And so they went back and just re-shot the whole ending. Adrian Lyon initially wasn't into it. Glenn Close was very not into it. Actively against it. She said to have sort of asserted that she'd worked so hard on creating Alex as somebody with a sympathetic mental illness. It's like in the bath the strangling, the struggle, the stabbing, all of this stuff. This film is like the opposite of Chekhon's gun.
