Herschel Grinschbahn was arrested for shooting a German diplomat and Nazi diplomat in Paris. Dorothy Thompson writes about this teenager extremely sympathetically to her readers. She didn't intend I think to raise money for his defense but readers sent her thousands of dollars, she sends it on to French lawyers who might be able to give him some assistance. Daphne du Maurier: Any money being sent to help Grinspan is from you know Gentiles only that Jews shouldn't be punished for trying to help him.
