The Greatness of Greek Civilization and Education
The greatness of their culture and civilization arose from the fact that the greeks, by introducing the right education, were able to preserve the child in human beings right up until death. Without slavery, it would have been impossible to educate even a small portion of humanity in this way. The second fact is women's position in greek society. Their lives were withdrawn from the di impulses at the root of greek civilization. And this seclusion made it possible for a child under seven to be left in the care of instinctive home life without any knowledge whatever. This is the second fact. The third is really a paradox to modern thinking, but we must understand itner less.
