The Importance of Listening to Music
Jazz is about listening to what the other musicians are playing in order that you can sympathetically respond and maybe take it to a higher level with their work. Alice Marsalis, the father of them who did a seminar, he was adjunct at the performing arts school. He would always talk about it not being the notes you play, it's the notes you don't play. And I like what Ecclesiastes says, the more words, the less meaning and what does it profit anyone?
