If you inhale it, then that exact same inflammatory reaction is happening in your respiratory tract because the epithelia are not very different from skin cells. You can get really severe swelling or edema because of how much inflammation you're having just under the skin. It's horrible. I have heard of people dying from that. Right? Sounds awful.
